Sanyo ECJ-HC100S 10-Cup Rice Cooker and Slow Cooker

Sanyo ECJ-HC100S 10-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker and Slow CookerI quite like the Sanyo ECJ-HC100S 10-Cup rice cooker! It makes the rice impeccably. Even though you still have to soak your brown rice first, it works much better than my old simple, single button beast did. I really enjoy the recipes that accompany this rice cooker, like using broth and butter and onion and carrot, right inside in your cooker. It's a whole meal inside your pot. It can also be used to make tofu, and porridge as well. But even just as a rice cooker it is a great choice. I'm also thrilled to have a non-aluminum surface come touch my food (like all of the other cookers that use aluminum). You will be impressed at how durable and strong the inner liner is, and how easily it can be cleaned. I'm really happy with the convenience of this purchase.

There are a couple of downsides, which I feel I need to give you so you can make an informed decision.

1.The lid can not be sealed tightly enough. If you look at it from the side you can see some light through the gap.
2.The lid has too much spring action, so when you press the "open lid" button, the lid quickly swings back, causing the rice cooker to shake when the lid stops. This could cause some interruptions while cooking.
3. The warming function of this rice cooker is not as good as many other units. With this one, if you let the rice sit for a while it can get hard and burnt. Rice that stays fresh for many hours when warming is the same of a good warmer.

This is a good rice cooker. My main problem with it is that in this price range, with a retail price of $168.99 (but online discounts are everywhere), the above problems should not occur. Those are problems I would expect from a $35 rice cooker, not a $170 one. If you are willing to spend this much, I would recommend you have a look at some Zojirushi rice cookers which function much more flawlessly.
