The Panasonic SR-TEG10 5 Cup rice cooker-warmer-steamer
Panasonic SR-TEG10 5-Cup Rice Cooker/Warmer/Steamer with Domed LidThe Panasonic SR-TEG10 5-Cup Rice Cooker/Warmer/Steamer with Domed Lid retails for $79.99 but can be found from online vendors for a lower price of $73.64. It is quite a nice mid-range rice cooker with steamer, made to be durable with good craftsmanship, and made to handle a wide variety of types of rice. The typical mid-range rice cooker can handle white rice well, but falters somewhat when it comes to jasmin, basmati, brown, or calrose rice. But the SR-TEG10 deals with all of those as well as it does with white rice.
One thing I like about this cooker is the cool touch body. No more burning your hands! This is a pretty common feature among the Japanese rice cookers I've used. It doesn't really require handles because you can just pick it up. It also features a non-stick inner pan, as I think all rice cookers should. It also has a moisture cap that prevents boil overs.
The one thing to keep in mind is that this is a small 5.5 cup rice cooker, making about 10 cups of cooked rice. That's good for a couple or small family, but if you regularly have guests and throw dinner parties then you might need something with a bigger capacity.
The Panasonic SR-TEG10 5 Cup rice cooker-warmer-steamer is a nice, solid mid-range rice cooker.
